At the July meeting of the Design Community of Practice, Lisa Sawin will be sharing her strategies for staying sane while doing design work in the higher-ed environment. She will discuss managing time, clients and expectations, with the goal of producing both excellent work and happy clients.

Lisa is the Associate Director for User Experience & Web Services in ITS, a group dedicated to supporting Yale’s web presence and increasing the overall usability of our web applications. Lisa has been at Yale for two years. Prior to that, she worked for 12 years as a software developer and technically. Her most recent work was at iFactory, where she served as the principal solutions architect. Lisa has an undergraduate degree in math from Penn State, a master’s degree in theoretical mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, and an associate of arts degree in furniture-making from Laney College.

The Yale Design Community Practice is an informal gathering that will offer a place to connect to other designers on campus, share ideas and resources, and collaborate on solutions to common challenges. We welcome graphic designers, web designers, illustrators, photographers, and communicators, as well as any Yale staff member with an interest in visual design.
