Jennifer Kirby & Michael Wayne Harris: Guidelines on Accessible Visual Design

On Wednesday April 12, UX Design Assistant Jennifer Kirby and Information & Accessibility Lead Michael Wayne Harris presented, “Guidelines on Accessible Visual Design.”

The meeting took place in the East Asia Studies Room on the second floor of the Sterling Memorial Library. Michael and Jennifer presented an overview of what website designers need to know to ensure that their designs are WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 compliant. Some of the topics discussed were headings and layout, color, text, typography, links and image/video/animation use.

Jennifer is a UX Design Assistant in User Experience & Digital Strategy in Yale ITS, she is also part of the Early Career Development Program. Michael Wayne Harris is the Information Architect & Accessibility Lead in User Experience & Digital Strategy in Yale ITS.
